Condo applications grew steadily, but ramped up starting in 2018. The sharp spike in applications in 2021 could be due to proposed changes in Toronto regarding the historical registration of properties that affect condo development projects. The decrease in applications in 2022 could be due to many applications being submitted in 2021. In 2022 there were 120 applications. The numbers have not been that low since 2013, which had 119 applications. Data for 2023 only covers to May 5. However, it looks like the number of applications is trending below historical averages. With one-third of the year gone, only 32 applications have been submitted.
