 Toronto shelter system opioid overdoses

There was a tremendous increase in the overdose deaths in the Toronto shelter system from 2018 to 2021. There was a decrease in 2022, but there were still 57 fatalities that year.

There was also a huge increase in the number of non-fatal overdoses in the Toronto shelter system from 2018 to 2021. This was followed by a decrease in 2022. This trend started with a doubling (approximately) from 2018 to 2019.

Toronto condo development applications: 2008 - 2023 Condo applications grew steadily. Huge increase in 2021. Sudden drop-off after 2021. Condo applications grew steadily, but ramped up starting in 2018. The sharp spike in applications in 2021 could be due to proposed changes in Toronto regarding the historical registration of properties that affect condo development projects. The decrease in applications in 2022 could be due to many applications being submitted in 2021. In 2022 there were 120 applications. The numbers have not been that low since 2013, which had 119 applications.  Data for 2023 only covers to May 5. However, it looks like the number of applications is trending below historical averages. With one-third of the year gone, only 32 applications have been submitted.
